Meet the Rallymaster

I have been in the LD community since 1998 when I first learned of the IBA. Since then I have been I all of the lower 48 states, and a number of countries in Europe.

There are a lot, and I mean a lot of new faces around the IBA and rallying over the past few years. At the IBA dinner I shouldn't have been surprised to know that I didn't know a lot of people and a lot of people didn't know me. So here's a bit of an introduction.

My name is Bryan Main, I've now been riding for ten years, though since 2005 the amount of miles I've been able to do has gone way, way down. In 2004 I trained for a world Master's swimming meet in Italy. I did a month long motorcycle trip during that time in Europe to go along with the meet. Needless to say the rest of the year I had little vacation time so no rallies for me.

In 2005 my mother died suddenly so a lot of the summer was taken up with dealing with the hardships there. In early 2006 my daughter was born, that of course takes away even more riding time and most of the time I got was going to and from work. I did however get on Saddle Sore in and did it all in the state of Maryland. This was the beginnings of the Oriole and Crab 1000.

2007 brought about the first Oriole and Crab 1000. Since I was having a hard time finding rallies I could attend I decided to do my own. Again having a little one does not help getting away. I did however loan my motorcycle to one of the IBR riders from Ireland as he had no motorcycle. This was one of the first times I was able to get more then a few miles away from home in a few years.

2008 brings the Raiders of a Lost Bike Tour, the second Oriole and Crab, and the Paper rallies.
